About

My name is Jeff Hora.  I am a graduate student at the University of Washington in Seattle.  I am enrolled in the Master of Communications in Digital Media (MCDM) program. This site is the residence of the final project for the Winter Quarter 2009 course “Evolution and Trends in Digital Media Technologies.”

The goal for this project for me is to complete a general survey of literature concerning public/municipal wireless technologies and projects in teh United States.  This survey includes a very high-level history of converging technologies, an assessment of the current state of public wireless technologies, especially as they pertain to municipalities and their embrace of the public good and information utility aspects of community wireless networks.  Included are three case studies and a stab at a forecast of the future of these kinds of projects in the United States.
